कोटद्वार से खोह नदी का आह्वान, सरकार राजधानी देहरादून में मरने वाली रिस्पना नदी को पुनर्जीवित करने की तैयारी कर रही है, लेकिन यहां कोई भी खोह नदी की देखभाल करने के लिए नहीं है। मांद ने सदियों से लोगों के जीवन को बचाया है, लेकिन आज उनका जीवन खतरे में है। खोह की जननी नदी लुंगुरगढ़ और सिलगढ़ भी अपनी अंतिम सांसें गिनते हैं। खोह नदी के संरक्षण की बात की जा रही है, लेकिन कोई भी यह समझने के लिए तैयार नहीं है कि सिलगढ़ और लंगूरगढ़ है। इन दोनों नदियों का मिलन ऐतिहासिक शहर पौड़ी जिले के दुगड्डा और खोह नदी से होता है, जो वन क्षेत्र से 25 किमी और कोटद्वार से 10 किमी की दूरी तय करती है। इसके अलावा, स्नेहा में, कोल्हू नदी में मिलती है। इसके बाद, धामपुर (बिजनौर-उत्तर प्रदेश) में, मांद गंगा नदी और अग्रिमों में मिलती है। लगभग डेढ़ दशक पहले तक, जब कोई नलकूप नहीं थे, इस नदी ने कोटद्वार नगर और आसपास के सभी गांवों की प्यास बुझाई।

आज, यह नदी लैंसडौन वन प्रभाग के जंगलों में अद्वितीय लोगों की प्यास बुझा रही है, जिन्होंने इस क्षेत्र की जैव विविधता को मान्यता दी है। सरकारी तंत्र जो कहता है कि आज इस नदी को बचाओ। नदी को बचाने के लिए एक नियंत्रण बांध बनाने की तैयारी है। जबकि यह नदी सिलागड और लंगूरगढ़ से ही मौजूद है, सरकारी तंत्र की जटिलता से वे लगातार आक्रमण कर रहे हैं, लेकिन इस पर कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया जाता है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि अप्सरा मेनका ने अपनी नवजात बेटी को छोड़ दिया और खोह नदी के किनारे स्वर्ग लौट गई। जहां शकुनता के पक्षी ने अपने पंख फैलाए और चिलचिलाती धूप से नवजात की रक्षा की। इस नवजात लड़की को बाद में शकुंतला के नाम से जाना गया। भरत का जन्म इसी शकुंतला के गर्भ से हुआ था, जो बाद में सम्राट चक्रवर्ती भरत के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ।
